Lila Turjanski-Villard

Since the very first day I started making sculpture, I have always been fascinated by the human figure and its suggestions.
Some years ago, I began to develop a great interest in the stylization of the human figure which gets realized in the use of various materials including paper and wire. Very small pieces of paper are glued together and superposed around the core structure which generate the specific texture of the surface.

My creative process starts with the manipulation of the materials. This generates certain visualization of shapes and space which conducts me to an idea or image. The paper adds texture. Therefore, there is an interaction among space, shapes and texture to create the final sculpture. The viewer provides a last interpretation.
