William Alger
I have been a photographer for over 30yrs. making my living in NYC most of that time as a commercial catalogue photographer. I was fortunate to start my career at a time when there were studio houses all over the city and the outer boroughs, so finding work was never an issue. However I worked for one company for 12yrs. where I learned my lighting and commercial skills on the job, starting as an assistant to sometimes 3 to 5 photgraphers at the same time. It was an invaluable experience. However, through all the years of working in studios around NYC, I never stopped shooting my personal work. I made the transition from film to digital about 9 yrs. ago and learned my basic imaging skills in a studio shooting high end product photography for Saks Fifth Avenue. Digital imaging opened up a new world of creative possibilities and I was totally hooked. Now my arsenal includes a few different camera's and I edit with CS3, Lightroom and Photomatix to create my current series of images. It is extremely exciting to be a part of this new revolution in the visual arts and it is just the beginning.
